On Friday, a client asked me this.
Here are 3 tips I gave her.
1. Share your story:
Because your brand is nothing without your story.
Think of Gary Vaynerchuk, Chris Do, and Justin Welsh.
Think of Shay Rowbottom, Lea Turner, and Amelia Sordell.
If you know any of them, you know:
1. How did they start?
2. What was their struggle?
3. How did they get where they are?
In other words, you know their story.
If you want to position yourself as an expert, share your story.
Tell them 3 things:
1. The problem, you had?
2. The struggle, you faced?
3. The solution, you found?
Your story can get people to
→ follow you,
→ trust you, and
→ buy from you.
So, must share your story.
2. Share useful content:
Tips and hacks are certainly useful.
But they alone don't establish you as an expert.
If you want people to look up to you and trust your advice, share practical content that helps them solve their problems and overcome their challenges.
To truly position yourself as an expert, share in-depth content that demonstrates your knowledge and expertise.
With content like this, you establish yourself as an expert, help your audience, and convert more people.
3. Share strong opinions:
Share your strong opinions and let your true beliefs shine through.
Here’s why:
→ Sharing vanilla opinions won't cut it in a sea of information and voices, only strong opinions will help you stand out.
→ Sharing your true opinions attracts like-minded individuals who share similar views, creating a sense of community and belonging among your audience.
→ Sharing your genuine thoughts and beliefs helps establish you as an authentic and credible source of information, which can be particularly important in building trust with your audience.
→ Sharing strong opinions sparks discussion and debate among your audience, leading to more engagement and helping you stand out.
Here's an example of a strong response I gave to my client when she asked if she should comment more.
Don't comment for the sake of it - it will only waste your time.
So often, we see people commenting on other people's content just for the sake of reciprocity - but this doesn't generate any leads.
If you want to make your comments meaningful and worthwhile, consider commenting with the following goals in mind:
→ adding meaningful insight,
→ sharing a relatable story,
→ demonstrating your expertise,
→ offering a different perspective, or
→ challenging something.
By focusing on these goals, you can make your comments more valuable and useful to both the creator and other readers.
That’s it for this week.

P.S. As you may remember, I wanted to add more sections to my newsletter, but realized it would make it a lot longer and not digestible in one go. So, I'm keeping it the same. Short and simple.
