How to build authority on LinkedIn?
Branded Chief # 16
Authority comes with responsibility, but also a lot of power.
It's easier to get people to listen to you when you have authority.
But when you don't have it it's hard to advance your career, get recognized for your work, and make a difference.
Every entrepreneur and businessman who wants to be a thought leader needs it.
Here are 5 tips to help you build authority on LinkedIn.
1. Know your stuff:
The first step to building authority on LinkedIn is to actually be an expert in your field.
Make sure you know what you're saying and stay up-to-date on the latest news in your industry, so you can help others.
2. Demonstrate your knowledge:
Once you’ve established yourself as an expert, it’s important to start sharing your knowledge with others.
Put your knowledge out there to help your audience and add value.
3. Set the right expectations:
It's important to set the right expectations when sharing your expertise.
Make your advice clear, concise, and actionable.
Don't be afraid to admit what you don't know - no one expects you to know everything.
4. Be consistent with your message:
Keeping your message consistent is crucial when building authority.
If you’re always changing your mind or flip-flopping on your opinions, it will be harder for people to take you seriously.
5. Be authentic and true to yourself:
Authenticity and honesty are key to building authority and credibility.
People can tell when you’re not being genuine, so make sure your message is coming from a place of authenticity.
You can't build authority overnight, but you can start by being consistent and providing valuable content.
As you continue to contribute quality content, people will begin to see you as an expert in your field.
Tip: Be active on LinkedIn, post text posts, make educational carousels, and share videos and photos.
